Screen Shot 2015-07-14 at 15.44.04
Katch came onto the scene in March when Meerkat was booming to provide you with a way of saving your videos to YouTube by including #Katch in your posts title and tweeting it. Four months on, Periscope is also on the scene and Katch has had a major upgrade. The updated version has added Periscope support, instant replays, additional privacy controls and the ability to download your videos. To save your Periscope videos, it’s the same method as before – add #Katch to the title of your video and tweet it. Alternatively, if you want to archive all of your posts,…

Red Bull Alert makes you feel bad for hitting snooze on your alarm clock

RBAlert_Feat
In a world where you can get instant feedback about how much energy your house is using, how many steps you’ve taken today and how much REM sleep you got last night, it should come as little surprise that there’s now an app to track how good you are at waking up. Red Bull Alert, available from today for Android devices, not only tracks how quickly you respond to your alarm, but does it all with photos from one of nine different sport categories. There are different sounds to rouse you from your slumber too. If you’re the competitive sort, you can also…

Teens (and basically everyone else) hate that Snapchat’s Discover is now front and center

Snapchat
Snapchat is basically powered by teens. A March report from ComScore shows that 71 percent of Snapchat users are under 34 years old, and 45 percent of them are in that 18-24 demographic. Reliable demographics on teens’ use of social media are extremely hard to come by, but it’s safe to assume that the high school set is a part of the majority on the app. Teens love Snapchat. Except the company’s content-driven Discover feature. They hate the crap out of that. And the company’s latest update now puts Discover at the top of every user’s story list. The teens? They are…

This hipster radio station is so ‘cool’ that you have to be there… literally

Screenshot 2015-07-13 20.58.21
I never thought I’d witness an evocation of try-hard hipsterdom that summed it up for me like LCD Soundsystem’s 4:28 eye roll ‘Losing My Edge’ once did, but I’ve stumbled upon one, thanks to PSFK. It reported on the unveiling of WBBR, a radio station – available via an iPhone app – that’s so exclusive you can only access it on the Williamsburg Bridge. Inevitably, it’s the product of an advertising agency – Sid Lee – and a hipper than hip record label – UNO! WBBR delivers two songs each day for people making the bridge crossing: a motivational one for the ascent and a chill out…

Screen Shot 2015-07-13 at 11.08.09
When Instagram first started out, it was an app that gave life to the not-so-sharp photos from our phones. In the beginning there was an air of it being snubbed by the photography elite but as time has gone on, the app has become a rite of passage for budding photographers and brands alike. Instagram has created a real community of people who are embracing mobile photography as a platform for self-expression as much as they are for selfies and sales. The evolution of its newsfeed tells a tale of its own. In the beginning, photos had a truthful naivety…
