Screenshot 2015-07-20 09.13.26
If you’re a fan of streaming app Meerkat, then you know it’s a little hard to look at where in the world other people are streaming. That has now changed with the Meerkat Map, a global view that shows you where people are streaming, so you can hop in and peek at a world different from yours. The app, which is hosted on Github, takes advantage of Meerkat’s API, which the company released in May. It’s very similar to the Global List already available in Meerkat’s competitor, Periscope: it groups streams in aggregate, so you can see from a zoomed out…

Instagram finally brings its search functionality to the Web

instagram_android_2
Let’s face it, Instagram’s hub on the Web has traditionally kind of sucked. Thankfully, that’s finally starting to change. Recently, Instagram introduced a much easier-on-the-eyes design and started storing high-res images, and today it’s finally allowing you to search for images.   You can now look up anything from hashtags, locations and usernames right from the desktop.  Tags and locations are getting their own pages too, so you can see the most popular related images. The update is rolling out to everyone today. While it’s weird that it even took so long for the relatively basic functionality to be available…

Hyperlapse_MS
Microsoft’s Hyperlapse app for smoothing and editing video footage captured on your mobile has been updated to add new features and extend compatibility to older Windows Phone handsets. Among the newly supported devices are the Lumia 920 and Lumia 1020, both of which shipped with Windows Phone 8.0, rather than version 8.1, which was previously required to run the app. Along with extended handset support, Hyperlapse on Windows Phone now has an increased video recording limit (for longer clips) and tweaks to the algorithm to make it easier to use. You will still need a device with at least 512MB…

Which app store optimization tool can you actually trust?

appstore
App developers are familiar with the importance of App Store Optimization – the holy grail of organic traffic. After all, most downloads stem from basic App store search, and making sure your app is among the first options presented to users is the best way to drive traffic more organic than Wholefoods. Performing a solid keyword research is a crucial part of ASO (some might say it’s the only part, and they’d be absolutely wrong, but that’s for another post), and yet many developers still believe they can do it all on their own – just give them the right…
