Pushbullet’s free file-sending app Portal arrives for iPhone

Portal-Pushbullet_feat
Pushbullet’s Portal app that lets you send large (or small) files from your computer to your phone is now available for iOS devices. First launched for Android in June, the app lets you bundle up multiple individual files and beam them to your iPhone for free, made all the more useful by the lack of file size limits or total number of files. Another handy feature is that it allows you to transfer entire folders as they are, and maintains the folder structure when you browse them on your phone. Photos are automatically added to your gallery, too. However, while Portal…

Developers can now add native Tumblr sharing to their apps

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Yahoo is making its Mobile Developer Suite a bit more powerful. During a conference in New York today, Simon Khalaf, senior vice president of publisher products announced Tumblr in-app sharing. It’s similar to the share button you’re used to seeing on webpages, except for mobile apps. Developers can integrate the tool into their apps, and then their users will be able to share content directly onto Tumblr. Besides being convenient for the user, it’ll encourage some extra installs for the developers. Users who see a post shared via an app will be able to download the app that shared it…

The startup game, and why I find Founderfox’s crappy looking pitches refreshing

founderfox_feat
I’ve wasted way too long today looking at Founderfox’s low-rent, self-service pitch platform, but I find the videos – of people pitching while sitting in cars, stood around in the park, wherever they like –  strangely compelling in a tech world dominated by high-budgets. As well as receiving a lot of pitches via email (and wasting my days scouring the internet), I’ve also been to a lot of accelerator pitch days. The format is always pretty familiar: ‘come and see our latest crop of startups pitching to investors in the hopes they can keep the dream of running their company alive.’ Sometimes…

Pintasking brings easy multi-tasking to just about any Android device

Pintasking
One of the main reasons I prefer working on my desktop over my tablet or phone is that PCs offer a significantly better multi-tasking experience. Sure, I could use my Android phone to keep an eye on Twitter for leads for a story, download images using Chrome, and write and publish my post in WordPress — but can you imagine switching between those apps to get it all done? Pintasking lets you minimize your active apps to floating buttons, so you can switch between them more easily than using Android’s built-in functionality, and without restarting them either. Pintasking minimizes any…
