Monese’s mobile-first banking service lets you open an account without a UK address [Invite codes]

DebitCard_Monese
Monese, a service that aims to simplify mobile-first banking, is opening its virtual doors to customers today following a three-month closed beta. The service takes a different approach to digital banking than other companies, and seems to be aimed at the huge numbers of transient or disenfranchised people locked out of traditional banking services. Instead of proof of a UK address, a minimum opening balance or the provision that your salary is paid into the account, Monese lets users sign up for a new account from a mobile device in just a matter of minutes. Your debit card will then arrive in…

Instagram doesn’t want your #latergrams, suggests you share pictures taken today

Via Napier Lopez
Despite an average of 70 million photos shared on Instagram a day, the company doesn’t want you to stop at just brunch, selfies and #latergrams. The app may now recognize when you’ve taken photos and suggest you post it that same day. Spotted by my colleague Napier Lopez on his Samsung Galaxy Note 5, a prompt on the lower menu suggested he share any of the pictures he snapped today. Clicking on the blue notification tab brings up some recent photos in his gallery, including screenshots (not a rare occurrence on Instagram.) A Twitter user also noticed the prompt a few days ago,…

snipandshare_feat
Tweeting an article or posting it to Facebook isn’t the most challenging thing – and there are plenty of ways you can achieve the same goal. However, there aren’t too many tools that let you share an entire page, a cropped section or a manually selected piece of content – like a GIF, still image, video or words – all in one. The Crop and Share Chrome extension exists for just that reason. It’s free to install and use, and about as simple as it gets. Once you’re set-up and have an account – or log in via Facebook or Twitter – you just need…

Apple’s ‘Move to iOS’ app is getting heckled on the Play Store

MovetoiOS
If you ever wanted proof that the Android vs iOS feud is real, this is it. Apple released its Move to iOS app yesterday so Android users can easily migrate their data if they ever get an iPhone. Seems like a nice ‘neighborly’ thing to do, right? Some Android users don’t think so. They have taken to using the app’s review space on the Play Store as a way to hurl abuse at Apple. One reviewer declared that he would “rather be shot in the face than switch to a closed, controlled environment. Apple will be the next BlackBerry in a few…
