This stupid game turns a major Chrome bug into fun

Chrome_liight
The latest build of Chrome has a fairly major bug that can cause the browser to crash with a special URL, but one developer is taking that bug and trying to turn it into some fun. %%30%30 is a game that lets you follow a maze of emoji with your cursor, avoiding deadly trees on your way to the end. Here’s the thing: those deadly trees will crash your browser if you hit them. The crash is caused by Chrome not knowing how to properly handle escaped URLs. Even though Chrome’s tabs run in separate processes, it can sometimes take…

Monese’s mobile-first banking service lets you open an account without a UK address [Invite codes]

DebitCard_Monese
Monese, a service that aims to simplify mobile-first banking, is opening its virtual doors to customers today following a three-month closed beta. The service takes a different approach to digital banking than other companies, and seems to be aimed at the huge numbers of transient or disenfranchised people locked out of traditional banking services. Instead of proof of a UK address, a minimum opening balance or the provision that your salary is paid into the account, Monese lets users sign up for a new account from a mobile device in just a matter of minutes. Your debit card will then arrive in…

Instagram doesn’t want your #latergrams, suggests you share pictures taken today

Via Napier Lopez
Despite an average of 70 million photos shared on Instagram a day, the company doesn’t want you to stop at just brunch, selfies and #latergrams. The app may now recognize when you’ve taken photos and suggest you post it that same day. Spotted by my colleague Napier Lopez on his Samsung Galaxy Note 5, a prompt on the lower menu suggested he share any of the pictures he snapped today. Clicking on the blue notification tab brings up some recent photos in his gallery, including screenshots (not a rare occurrence on Instagram.) A Twitter user also noticed the prompt a few days ago,…

snipandshare_feat
Tweeting an article or posting it to Facebook isn’t the most challenging thing – and there are plenty of ways you can achieve the same goal. However, there aren’t too many tools that let you share an entire page, a cropped section or a manually selected piece of content – like a GIF, still image, video or words – all in one. The Crop and Share Chrome extension exists for just that reason. It’s free to install and use, and about as simple as it gets. Once you’re set-up and have an account – or log in via Facebook or Twitter – you just need…
