Instagram Direct now supports private photo sharing, selfies and emojis

Instagram has finally made some feature updates to Instagram Direct that finally makes it a true messaging service, and also eliminating annoying habits many on Instagram have right now. Announced in a blog post today, version 7.5 is currently available for both iOS and Android. The primary improvement to the feature is that you can finally send content from your feed as a Direct Message. Previously, Instagram Direct was limited to original photographs to share with others.
